5대에 걸친 수련과 계승의 창작 발전의 치열한 연단과정을 거친 직헌(直軒) 허달재 화백의 칠순 결정체인 남종화의 열매이자 씨앗의 뭉뚱그린 역사적 산물이 드디어 탄생했다.
뉴욕에서 5년간 수학 교수로서의 동양화 저변확대의 꿈을 1980년대에 펼치고, 이후 중국 베이징으로 건너가 독자 갤러리와 작업실을 운명하면서, 태자당과 펑리위안 여사 등 정계에 한국문인화의 기상을 널리 펼쳐온 직헌 허달재 화백이 칠순에 이르러 고향 전남 광주에서 장기간 전시회를 갖는다.
